Desafío Albelda

The Desafío Albelda takes place in Albelda de Iregua, in the Iregua valley, and offers a full sporting day rather than a single race: alongside the two mountain routes, there are road races, a hiking walk and a family race. The long trail climbs to the sierras that enclose the valley, accumulating close to 1,300 metres of elevation gain over 22 kilometres, with a late-afternoon start from Plaza Mayor. It forms part of the Circuito Riojano de Trail Mountain Races Chiruca Experience and has a strong community feel: it is driven by the town’s own network of associations, which opens the day to mountain runners, road athletes and families on the same stage.
