La Pujada al Castell d'Alaró is one of the most veteran mountain races in Mallorca and climbs from the plaça de la Vila in the town up to the rocky castle that crowns the Puig d'Alaró, an Andalusian fortress perched above vertical cliffs at just over eight hundred metres. The route accumulates close to seven hundred and fifty metres of elevation gain along dry-stone paths, terraced olive groves and the final cobbling that gives access to the summit. It is organised by the Federació Balear de Muntanyisme i Escalada and forms part of the Copa Balear de Curses per Muntanya. It is reserved for runners with a federative licence and limited to 300 places with no waiting list, and alongside the main route a shorter version is contested for the cadet category.
