Vertical d'Aran

The Vertical Aran celebrates its 15th edition in the Val d’Aran, with the start in Vielha and the finish at the summit of Montcorbison, on a short, explosive high-mountain course. The route climbs via tracks, paths and off-track sections, in a demanding and highly visual Pyrenean setting, with continuous elevation gain and a competitive local atmosphere for runners used to intense efforts. The event offers entry for a popular walk category and two race options, and the organisers state that it does not require any minimum equipment, although they recommend bringing warm clothing, water, trekking poles and a phone. They also suggest checking the weather before taking part. At the start area in Casau there is practical information about timings, and the event includes downloadable tracks and useful references for those who want to prepare the ascent properly.
