The TrasierraTrail is run on the north-facing slopes of Sierra Morena, in the Badajoz town of Trasierra, and alternates fast forest tracks through the dehesa with hard climbs and technical descents. Its most recognisable section is the ascent to the castle of Reina, an Almohad alcazaba that crowns an isolated hill and from which views open out over the Campiña Sur, the Sierra Norte of Seville and the Sierra de Tentudía; the long course then takes on the Sierra de las Casas before returning to the village among olive groves. It is organised by the Asociación Deportiva Traserreña and the Club de Atletismo Campiña Sur together with the Town Council, and the event forms part of the Trofeo de la Diputación de Badajoz within the provincial circuit BA-Trail. The start and finish are located in the Plaza de la Iglesia, and the programme includes its own routes for the younger categories.
