Vertical de Guelguén

The Vertical de Guelguén is a vertical kilometre race held in October in Garafía, the most isolated municipality on La Palma, at the northern tip of the island. It is organised by the Town Council of Garafía and EDA Eventos, and the event counts towards the Vertical Fecamon Tour and the Copa de Canarias for the discipline. The route gains a little over 1,000 metres of elevation gain over around 5,7 kilometres along royal tracks, paths and trails that go into the Special Natural Reserve of Guelguén, a laurel forest and cloud forest ravine with hardly any footfall. It is a continuous climb from the coast up to the midlands, with hardly any sections to rest.
