La Assota CxM is the mountain race in Caravaca de la Cruz and has become one of the reference dates in the north-west of Murcia, with close to 1,000 runners and walkers across all its formats. The routes start from the town centre of Caravaca and go into the mountain ranges that surround the municipality, a landscape of pinewoods, rocky outcrops and old bridle paths in the area of the hamlet of La Encarnación. It is organised by the Assota club with the collaboration of the Town Council of Caravaca and the General Directorate of Sport, and forms part of the official calendar of the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia. The programme combines two competitive mountain distances with a walking route, a road race through the urban centre, and several events for children’s categories, and the organisers publish the official tracks for each route.
