Magustina Trail

La Magustina Trail takes place in Carbajo, a small village in the Sierra de San Pedro, on the border with Portugal. The long course totals 21 kilometres and a little over 1,100 metres of elevation gain over ground of dehesa, scrubland and quartzite ridges, in one of the best-preserved areas of western Cáceres, a refuge for large birds of prey. It scores for the Copa de Extremadura of the Federación Extremeña de Montaña y Escalada and offers two distances over the same setting, so the short one works as an entry point to the long event. Its name refers to the magustina, the local chestnut celebration held in the region.
