CxM Arroyo de los Molinos

La CxM Arroyo de los Molinos is run in the Sierra de Montánchez, in the Cáceres municipality of Arroyomolinos, and is the event that distributes the regional titles for mountain races every year. Its 26-kilometre route accumulates 1,360 metres of elevation gain along paths through chestnut trees, granite scree slopes and the hills that surround the town, with technical sections that become slippery when moisture builds up in the upper part. It hosts the Extremadura Mountain Running Championship in line format, both individually and by clubs, and also includes titles for the lower categories on a shorter course. It is held at the end of February, when the sierra still holds the winter’s moisture, and forms part of the circuit of the Federación Extremeña de Montaña y Escalada.
