Nájera Xtrem

La Nájera Xtrem crowns the three hills that surround the town of Nájera, in the Najerilla valley: the Cruz de Malpica, the monte del Castillo and the monte de la Calavera, the great blocks of red sandstone riddled with caves that overlook the historic centre and the Monastery of Santa María la Real. The long course links the three with 1,200 metres of elevation gain over 23 kilometres, on short, punishing terrain that is more demanding than its altitude suggests. It is organised by the Club de Montaña K2 and Activity Life Passport, and the event forms part of the Circuito Riojano de Trail Mountain Races Chiruca Experience. It brings together more than 300 runners and also offers a shorter distance that can be done in walk mode as well.
